It was not too long ago that the mental status of President Donald Trump was called into question by Democrat politicians, newspaper editorialists, and TV pundits. Stories were frequent about cabinet huddles and Dept of Justice meetings in which the invocation of Section IV of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution was supposedly discussed. The question was said to be proposed: was President Trump mentally incapable to continue as president? In other words, was he nuts? Then, Presidential Physician Admiral Ronnie Jackson was grilled at a televised White House news conference about his post examination assessment of Donald Trump’s mental abilities. The answer to all the speculation and innuendo — Trump was mentally fit to continue to fulfill the responsibilities of the presidency.

Similar assessment should be made of Joe Biden’s cognitive and emotional fitness to be president. After all he is four years older than his Republican opponent in the 2020 national election. Biden is at present 77 years and four months of age, by far the oldest president should he be elected. The United States has never been governed by a person 80 years old.

Joe Biden’s abilities, mainly physically and occasionally mentally, were seriously questioned last year by many of his opponents for the Democrat presidential nomination. Now that his opponents are defeated, the Democrat party establishment is doing everything possible to dampen such speculation. Indeed, when a reporter gently brings up the question of his mental competence, the reporter is attacked by the party spokesman as insensitive, ageist, a purveyor of innuendo. The question is never answered.

Biden’s behavior has always been goofy – touching women inappropriately, smelling the hair of girls, nibbling on his wife’s fingers at a public rally, constantly making up stuff, and attacking with raw language at rallies anyone who asks him a question he does not like.

For the sake of the country and the American electorate, Mr. Biden must undergo a transparent cognitive test by a neutral neurologist or team of neurologists/psychiatrists to assess his competence to become our president. This medical observer/historian needs to be assured that he does not have incipient Alzheimer’s or predementia.

This will be the first of a series. Keep connected.
